Cadiz in 1993. Johann is originally from Massachusetts. His dad was an Apache helicopter pilot in the U.S. Army, so his family moved around quite a bit before eventually settling in Cadiz after being stationed at Fort Campbell. Ironically, they moved to Kentucky the same year I did, in 1991. After graduation from Murray State, we lived in Nashville for a short time before God paved the way for us to move to Paducah in 2002, where we bought our first home, raised our family, and built a life we love. What’s a funny or sweet memory you all love to retell? One Valentine’s Day, back when Johann and I were still dating and I lived at home, he decided he wanted me to wake up to my gift already waiting for me. So, he actually snuck into my house! My dog at the time started growling like he never had before, which should’ve been my first clue that something was up. Johann had hidden in my bathroom when he saw I was starting to wake. When I got out of bed, I tiptoed toward my door and caught a glimpse of someone’s reflection in the bathroom mirror. My heart nearly stopped! I don’t think it’s ever pounded that hard. It was scary in the moment, but once I realized what was happening, it turned into one of the sweetest (and funniest) Valentine’s memories. What do you love most about living in this community? We love how peaceful it is here. It’s the perfect mix of small- town charm and convenience - close enough to everything, but still quiet and relaxing. There’s also real community spirit. People show up for each other, whether it’s supporting local events, volunteering, or just lending a hand. How do you manage work and family time? Family means a lot to us, and we’ve found that when we try to keep things organized and FAMILY communicate well, we can manage both. We try to plan ahead and set realistic expectations. That balance isn’t about perfection, it’s about trying to be fully there wherever we are. Does your family have a motto? If so, what is it? Romans 8:28 “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” This has always meant a lot to our family. When our oldest daughter was little, she would find 8:28 on license plates, signs, the clock, and even in math problems, etc. Whatever the circumstance, we know that God is working in the midst for our good. What are the core values of your family? Our core values are pretty simple…be honest, do the right thing even when no one is watching, and give your best effort. A good reminder is that your name and your words carry weight, and that hard work and kindness will most likely always prevail. 74 DECEMBER 2025 | INTHEVUE.COM
