Kentucky Lake Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Advisor Bridge Inc. Advisor, Financial Planning Jump Start Cohort, Murray BNI Profit Racers Vice- President Elect Describe a challenge in your career and how you overcame it. I did not start my professional career as a financial advisor. As a former high school teacher and coach, I was leaving a successful, stable profession to begin a career in an industry where I had no experience or guarantees. We had a new baby and were in the middle of a complete gut renovation of our home. I’m sure there’s no “perfect” time for a career change, but there are easier ones. What carried me through was keeping my eyes on the long- term purpose rather than the short-term obstacles. While I loved teaching and coaching, I believed He had opened a door where I could use those same gifts: educating, coaching, building relationships, working with numbers, and helping people make wise decisions to serve families differently. That perspective made the long nights and uncertainty worthwhile. It reminded me that worthwhile goals rarely come without sacrifice and persistence. Who inspires you, and how has that influenced your professional journey? Honestly, the people who inspire me the most are the clients I have the privilege of working with every day. I have had the opportunity to sit across the table from people who have fought in wars, built businesses from nothing, worked their entire lives to provide for their families, overcome incredible hardships, and dedicated themselves to serving their communities. I have met amazing parents, grandparents, business owners, and leaders who have spent their lives putting others first. Getting to know people like that will always inspire me. It makes me want to show up every day as the best version of myself because they trust me. It also pushes me to keep learning. I want to know as much as I possibly can so I can be as valuable as possible to those who have trusted me. One of the things I love most about my job is what I am able to learn from others. Their experiences, work ethic, resilience, and servant hearts have made me a better advisor and, more importantly, a better person. Over the course of my career, I hope I can play a small role in helping people achieve the goals they have spent a lifetime working toward, just as they have inspired me through the lives they have built. Civic Pathways Group Board Treasurer, Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce Small Business Committee, Leadership Paducah Class #33, Concord United Methodist Church Pianist Describe a challenge in your career and how you overcame it. After 13 years of banking, including almost nine years in commercial underwriting, I transitioned into my current role as a Commercial Relationship Manager, where I have served for the last two years. My success as an underwriter was measured by careful and thorough analysis to ensure the bank made sound credit decisions. Moving into commercial relationship management required me to develop an entirely different set of skills: building trust with clients, understanding their long-term goals, and serving as a true financial partner. I overcame that challenge by seeking opportunities to learn from experienced Relationship Managers at the bank and taking the time to better understand my clients’ businesses and long-term goals. While the transition has challenged me, it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. Who inspires you, and how has that influenced your professional journey? My father has been my greatest personal and professional influence. He spent nearly 40 years in ministry, including 20 years serving the Paducah community. Growing up, I had the privilege of watching him provide calm, compassionate, steady leadership. He valued education, but more importantly, he believed knowledge should be accessible to everyone. He never spoke over people or made them feel intimidated. He wanted them to leave every conversation or every church service with greater understanding. That lesson is at the core of my professional approach. I believe people make better decisions when they understand what they’re doing and why. I strive to communicate in a way that builds confidence and trust. What advice would you give to other young professionals striving for success? Every stage of your career has something to teach you. Don’t rush through one role or position just to get to the next. Embrace every opportunity to learn where you are today. It will prepare you for where you’re going tomorrow.
