“Consultation and community are important,” the team said. The practice was founded on the idea that there is no single path to healing. Every person carries their own experiences, challenges, and ways of understanding the world, which means therapy should never be one-size-fits- all. Because of that belief, Integrative Psychological Services offers a variety of therapeutic approaches that allow clients to explore what works best for them. According to the center’s philosophy, “As a mental health collective, we are redefining the way we heal. We assist our clients through psychotherapy, somatic therapies, EMDR, brainspotting, experiential therapies, reiki, psychological assessments and evaluations, and more, because healing isn’t one size fits all.” What makes this approach unique is its emphasis on the connection between the mind and the body. By incorporating body-based therapies into treatment, clients can work through those experiences in a more complete way. “The body and the mind are connected, so it’s not only important to take care of your mind, but you can incorporate the body into the healing process,” the team explained. Modalities like somatic therapy, EMDR, and brainspotting allow individuals to process difficult memories and emotions in ways that go beyond conversation alone. These techniques help clients explore how their nervous systems respond to stress and trauma, giving them tools to release those patterns and move toward a greater sense of calm and stability. One of the main goals of this work is helping people step out of what the practice describes as a “survivalist mentality”. Over time, that survival mode can make it difficult to truly enjoy life or feel fully present. Therapy, in this setting, is about helping people move beyond that state and rediscover what it feels like to simply live. Integrative Psychological Services also places a strong emphasis on connection. Healing often happens through relationships, whether that is the relationship someone builds with their therapist, their community, or even themselves. “I just trusted in the universe to bring me my team,” owner Bree Shelby shared. That trust helped shape a group of therapists and practitioners who share a similar vision for care. Together, they work to support clients in ways that feel thoughtful, individualized, and genuine. Beyond their work inside the therapy room, Integrative Psychological Services is also committed to the larger Paducah community. The practice has partnered with several local organizations that focus on empowerment, inclusivity, and community well-being. As conversations around mental health continue to grow, practices like Integrative Psychological Services are helping shift the way people think about therapy. Instead of viewing healing as something that happens only in the mind, the team encourages people to see it as a process that involves the whole person. Four years after opening its doors, Integrative Psychological Services continues to offer a fresh perspective on mental health care in Paducah. Through a combination of innovative therapies, a welcoming environment, and a deep commitment to authentic connection, the practice is helping individuals move beyond survival and toward a life that feels more grounded, balanced, and whole.
