I try to keep the space quiet and warm and letting parents just sit back and relax while I do my thing. It makes everything very easy,” said Lori. “Of course, mom is there if the baby needs anything, but when doing a newborn session the parents are the ones that sometimes just need some quiet time and I try to give them that.” Throughout the years, Lori has had the privilege of working at two different photography studios. During those years, she made sure to learn. To take in and see how they had their own styles and how they did things, which in turn, helped Lori develop her own style of photography years later. “I still take classes today to learn more about photography and camera control, but also how to grow my photography business itself,” said Lori. “Like recently, I’ve been learning the social media aspect to reach out to the younger generation that seems to be ever growing. You constantly have to stay on your toes to reach the younger crowd. I’ve been trying to do more behind the scenes videos of sessions, such as the high school seniors. They love seeing themselves on video and then seeing the after photos.” While building her relationships with clients, she likes to reward them as well. Lori offers a referral program. Therefore, those clients who send their friends and families to her are able to receive discounts towards prints of their next session. Lori strives to keep her photography affordable, while still offering clients the very best of her creative work. More than that, she wants people to understand the importance of slowing down, being present, and capturing the moments that truly matter. “First and foremost, I am a mom. To me, I cherish photos of my boys from birth till now. I have, and always will, take photos of everything,” said Lori. “We are not promised tomorrow, and one day the photos will be all you have.” For Lori, photography is more than just a service - it’s a way of preserving what we often take for granted.
