Nearly four years ago, Bennie came to New Pathways for Children determined to make the most of every opportunity. Since then, he has grown into an outstanding young man academically, spiri- tually, and as a leader. He has earned straight A’s, participated in basketball and track at Community Christian Academy, and serves as president of the school’s Future Business Leaders of America chapter. Bennie has led charitable fundraising efforts and earned first place in the regional FBLA Intro to Business Presentation competition before placing fifth at the state level. Beyond the classroom, he is an active leader in his church youth group, has spoken during worship services, and regularly leads devotionals. The average stay for a child at New Pathways is three years. During their time at New Pathways, they receive consistency, encouragement, and Christ-like love, and the home meets their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Children eat dinner together, followed by devotional time. They also have time for recreation and homework. All of these situations embody what Morgan preached; a hand up, not a handout. New Pathways’ funding is broken down as 46.5 percent from individuals, 21.1 percent from churches of various denominations, 20.1 percent from charitable grants, 6.2 percent from tribute gifts, and 6 percent from businesses and community organizations.
