AGC has provided industry representation on program advisory and steering committees, been a regional sponsor for nationally recognized industry certifications for programs, instructors and students, supported SkillsUSA competitions, conducted career exploration opportunities such as the annual Construction Career Day Event with an average attendance of 1,600 regional tech students, and connected graduating students to local AGC member employers seeking trade skilled employees. School Spotlight Mayfield/Graves ATC currently serves 417 students from Mayfield High School, Graves County High School, Carlisle County High School, Northside Baptist Christian School, and one homeschool student. If you add on the number of students enrolled in more than one course at the ATC, that number goes up to 640. Students at the ATC can take courses in computer science, accounting, office administrative support, medicaid nurse aide, clinical medical assisting, allied health, carpentry, welding, electrical, and precision machining. Whether it be job shadowing, interning, clinicals, working a co-op, or speaking with representatives from colleges or industry, the ATC focuses on exposing students to as many post- secondary options as possible and preparing students to take the next step in their journeys. It’s also very rewarding for students to see how they can apply the skills they’re learning in class to help their communities. Mayfield/Graves ATC has students working as tech support at WK&T as part of a co-op and students working in nursing homes for clinicals. The electrical and carpentry depart- ments have been instrumental in framing, building, and wiring homes for tornado survivors. Carpentry is currently working with the Fuller Center to get started on even more new homes in Mayfield. Electricity students also just completed a project doing all the electrical work at a new women and children’s shelter in Graves County. Students in our precision machining department have created parts used at local factories. Mayfield/Graves ATC is always looking to increase workplace learning opportunities for its students, so please contact them if you would be interested in partnering with them.
