24 FEBRUARY 2026 | INTHEVUE.COM Don Riley, Founder, Co-Owner, and Principal Architect of Riley Architect Services, PLLC, and Elizabeth Miller Riley, Co-Owner, Business Development Director, and Design Consultant, lead their firm with a shared commitment to faith, family, and thoughtful design. In addition to their architectural practice, they also own several rental properties and serve as hands-on property managers. While their professional titles are meaningful, the ones they treasure most are Mom and Dad. They are proud parents to two remarkable children: their daughter, Miller Riley, a freshman at Harding University, and their son, Jackson Riley, a junior at Graves County High School. Both Don and Elizabeth are deeply invested in serving their community. Don serves on the board of New Pathways for Children, is an active member of the Mayfield Rotary Club, and teaches Bible classes at Northside Church of Christ. Elizabeth serves on the boards of The Lighthouse, Purchase Players Community Theater, the Mayfield Graves Art Guild, and the Mayfield Code Enforcement Board, and she also teaches the toddler class at Northside Church of Christ. Their story together began in 2002 when they met while living in Nashville, Tennessee. As they often say, it was love at first sight. After marrying, they moved to Kentucky in 2003, and in 2005 Don founded Riley Architect Services, PLLC in his hometown of Mayfield. Elizabeth joined the firm in its second year, marking the beginning of a professional partnership that now spans two decades. What started as a two-person operation has grown into a thriving firm with seven full- time staff members, including four architects and an interior designer, along with part-time virtual architects, engineers in two states, and a network of trusted consultants and support staff. At the heart of their successful partnership is faith and a shared commitment to honoring God in both marriage and business. They prioritize their relationship above any professional success or setback, value their differing strengths, and support one another’s weaknesses. Constant, honest communication and plenty of laughter play a vital role, along with Don’s practical contributions of taking out the trash and feeding the dog. True to the saying “opposites attract,” Don and Elizabeth balance one another perfectly. Don is quiet and introspective, while Elizabeth is a natural extrovert. These differences allow them to lead in distinct areas of the business and life. Elizabeth thrives in people-centered environments like Purchase Players Theatre, while Don finds peace on his family farm, enjoying quiet tractor time. The lessons they’ve learned from one another are deeply meaningful. Don credits Elizabeth with teaching him unconditional love, faithfulness, generosity, and grace. Elizabeth says Don has shown her how to imagine the impossible, trust God fully, and make a quiet, lasting impact without seeking applause. Their greatest shared dream is watching their children thrive. Professionally, they hope to continue serving communities and mission-driven organizations by creating beautiful, thoughtful, and buildable spaces that truly make a difference.
