INTHEVUE.COM | NOVEMBER 2025 9 MISSION To provide children and families in Western Kentucky with education, advocacy, and treatment that prevents child abuse, encourages family stability, promotes healthy relationships, enhances individual well-being, and cultivates safe, nurturing families. HOLIDAY OPPORTUNITIES During the holidays, the annual CASA Stocking Project provides each child served by the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program with a large, handmade, personalized stocking filled with toys and gifts. CASA advocates for children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. While Christmas is a joyful time for most kids, it can be a painful and challenging season for CASA children. The goal of the project is to remind them that there are caring adults who want the holidays to be special, even though they are away from home. This year, stockings will go to more than 160 children—from infants to teens—and Child Watch is requesting new toys, gifts, or monetary donations from the community to ensure that each stocking is filled. Stocking donations are requested by December 10. Volunteers are always needed. GIVING OPPORTUNITIES End-of-year charitable donations help support mental health counseling, court advocacy, and abuse prevention education services—all provided free of charge to the community by Child Watch. Community support is vital to sustaining the direct services that keep children safe from maltreatment and help child abuse victims heal. CHILD WATCH COUNSELING AND ADVOCACY CENTER HEARTFELT HOLIDAYS FAMILY SERVICE SOCIETY MISSION The mission of Family Service Society is to serve as a crisis resource to families of Paducah and McCracken County. HOLIDAY OPPORTUNITIES Since 1927, Family Service Society has been dedicated to meeting the needs of the local community year-round, providing food, clothing, utility and rent assistance, eyeglasses, prescription medication support, and emergency dental care. During the winter months, the organization focuses on a group often overlooked: senior and disabled adult households. Through its Santa for a Senior program, Family Service Society brings holiday joy to more than 500 households each year by providing food, personal care and cleaning items, and thoughtful gifts for Christmas. For many seniors, these are the only presents they will receive and the only holiday meal they will enjoy. Support from the community ensures that no one is forgotten during the holidays and that every household has food on the table and a gift under the tree. By participating in the Santa for a Senior program, supporters help share the warmth of the season with those who need it most.
