EVENT RE-VUE “READY IN RED” COMMUNITY DISASTER PREPAREDNESS FAIR Photos Taken By Josh Snow The Purchase Area Board of the American Red Cross was proud to host the Ready in Red Community Disaster Preparedness Fair for local communities. The event idea was thought of as a way to commemorate 100 years of service of the Red Cross to local communities. It evolved into not only a celebration but also served the resounding need for preparedness for families in need. The one-stop event allowed families to pick up a free starter preparedness kit that included first aid, hand warmers, sanitizer, toothbrushes, flashlights, fans, kleenex, window breakers, and seat belt cutters. These were all provided in part by sponsors Walmart, FNB Bank, Baptist Health Paducah, Adam Ford State Farm, and Lourdes Hospital. Partnering response agencies also set up stations to give families a chance to learn about different types of disasters/ response that impacts our region to help strengthen their preparedness plans. Our partners included Paducah Fire, Paducah Police, Paducah National Weather Service, McCracken County Emergency Management, Paducah Power and Hooked on Science. The American Red Cross also provided a tent where people could sign up to volunteer and kids could take participate in the Pillow Case Project, preparing them for home fire emergencies. Volunteers distributed almost 200 starter preparedness kits to families in need and were able to visit with and listen to Dr. Greg Forbes of the Weather Channel prepared us for disasters in the state of Kentucky. ƌŽŽŬĞ tŝůĞƐ, :ĂĐůLJŶ sŝĐŬŝ ^ƚŽƌLJ, :ĞĂŶŶĂ ůĂůŽĐŬ, ƵƌŶĞƩ, dŝŵ K’ ƌŝĞŶ, ůŝŶƚ ZŽďĞƌƚƐ, ĞƚŚ 'ŝƉƐŽŶ ŚĞůƐĞĂ ƌŽĂĐŚ, :ĂŵŝĞ ƌŽĂĐŚ ŶĚƌĞĂ ƌŽĂĐŚ, Evelyn Miller, ƌ.
