Working as a pharmacy technician in my field helped me gain experience. Attending professional meetings enabled me to make connections that put me in place to one day own an independent pharmacy. Have you had any mentors or role models who have influenced your professional growth? Brad Hall, former executive director of KPhA, taught me the importance of networking. Leon Claywell, owner of Medica Pharmacy, taught me the importance of not overlooking the details in your business. My mom and dad taught me the importance of hard work and always being dependable. What is the best piece of business advice that you’ve ever received? Treat everyone the way you want to be treated. Always be friendly, courteous, and honest. Professional, community, and civic organizations: Business Network International Metropolis Founding Member, Metropolis Chamber of Commerce, Rest Church Paducah Member What initially inspired you to pursue your profession? I wanted to be in a profession where I was able to help people. As an insurance agent, I am one of the first people they contact after a tragedy and am there to walk with them in the process of rebuilding. After the December 2021 tornado I realized just how much it means to someone to have a familiar face they can reach out to in a time of tragedy. This motivated me to continue building personal relationships with my clients and giving them someone they can trust in their times of need. What specific steps or strategies did you take to become successful in your field? Most importantly, I found a field I was passionate about. Being in insurance, it’s as important to build relationships with people as it is to be good at your job. When I started really trying to get to know my clients, my job became so much easier! People want a familiar face to come see, and I truly believe when you care about the people you’re working for, you will begin to succeed. What is the best piece of business advice that you’ve ever received? Always be willing to admit when you were wrong, or you don’t know the answer to something. The only way we grow as business professionals is to continue to learn. There is no shame in admitting you don’t know it all. Surround yourself with people who are equally as motivated to work and learn and you will continue to grow. I have always been passionate about sales since I was a little girl in Girl Scouts. Building relationships and helping people with one of the biggest financial decisions of their life has been a blessing for me. My biggest motivation is my mother, I hope to provide for her as she has provided for me. Have you had any mentors or role models who have influenced your professional growth? My cousin, Marianne Lynch, has been a Realtor for as long as I can remember. She has always been extremely passionate about her clients and showed me that a career in real estate is exactly where I belong. She has always supported me in whatever I have done and is there to answer any questions I may have. Additionally, Leslie Heath has been my mentor at Keller Williams and has provided me with advice and education that has been beneficial in my real estate career. I am fortunate to have both of these amazing women and Realtors as role models.
