One of the biggest hurdles I have faced is being perceived as inexperienced and limited due to my young age for my position. To overcome this challenge, I have consistently pushed myself to be one step ahead of my peers, striving to deliver exceptional performance in every task I undertake. In addition, I have also committed myself to forming solid, reliable bonds with everyone around me. What career achievement makes you most proud? I am proud that I have been able to apply my knowledge and achieve the following certifications: FACHE - Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and CMPE - Certified Medical Practice Executive. What matters most are the changes I have helped bring about in the communities I work in and the relationships I have formed. What is the best piece of business advice that you’ve ever received? Creating your own luck through hard work is about taking control of your own destiny. By actively working toward what you want, you increase your chances of success and open doors to new opportunities. I changed my career in my early 20s. I had a very steady job in healthcare, but I knew it wasn’t what I wanted to do my entire life. I had always been interested in real estate but was hesitant to take the jump because of the up front costs and the unsteadiness of income. However, I am a forward thinker and I knew I could make it happen if I really went for it. I jumped right in and struggled for the first year but have since then succeeded after three years in the business. What career achievement makes you most proud? Since I began in real estate I have wanted to own rental property. This year I was able to purchase not one, but two rental properties by myself. What is the best piece of business advice that you’ve ever received? “We can’t grow in a comfortable environment, we have to put ourselves in uncomfortable situations to reach our full potential.” I was always nervous to put myself out there, like taking business cards into other businesses or showing up to networking events alone. There’s no room for nerves in real estate. I learned very quickly that you have to show up to things you don’t want to even though you’re scared or nervous. The more I’ve done it, the less nervous I’ve become. I no longer have to text a friend and say, “Will you come with me?” And it’s the best feeling knowing that I can do things for myself. Taylor Morsching Organizations: Paducah Young Professionals Steering Committee Member, Kentucky Recreation & Park Society Awards Committee Member, Paducah Tennis Association Board Member, St. Matthew Lutheran Church Treasurer What is one of the biggest challenges that you’ve had to overcome in your professional career? The biggest challenge for me in my professional career was when I moved to Paducah for my first job in 2015 and did not know anyone and had never been to this part of the country before. It was difficult learning the differences of this area and the parks & recreation department as well as establishing myself within the office. Over time I was able to build relationships, learn more of the policies and procedures, and get comfortable in my position. What career achievement makes you most proud? I was over the Candy Cane Hunt for a couple of years and that program was awarded Kentucky Recreation & Park Society’s Class IV Program of the Year in 2019. I was very proud of the improvements we made to that event and to see it recognized was a very rewarding thing. What is the best piece of business advice that you’ve ever received? I had a business professor in college, Dr. Allen Barclay, who stressed in class that just because you may find yourself in a managerial position it doesn’t mean that you are a leader. He would say that anyone can be a leader in the organization. I’ve tried to be a good worker and leader no matter what position I have been in and recognize that even though I am a manager now that I still need to put in the effort to lead employees in an appropriate way.
